Walkthrough[]
The amount of money given Sveinn will determine the reward and what must be done. With the 500 kinah choice, Sveinn gives you the warehouse key, which is taken to Grall to collect your reward. With the 5,000 choice, simply talk to three NPCs. With the 50,000 choice, hunt a <Savvy Daru> until one drops the Holy Pendant. Take it to Bolverk to collect your reward.
For the money spent, the 5,000 Kinah option gives the best return (quadruple the Kinah and 100k XP). The 50,000 Kinah option gives the highest XP for a loss of 10k Kinah. This is the best option for those wanting to level quicker.
Warning: You can only pick one option.
Dialogue[]
Initial Dialogue[]
- Sveinn
- "People think I'm just a beggar, so they ignore me. All of them: Humans, Daevas, and Shugos alike.
- They don't even know they're doing it. Heh, too bad for them.
- Do you want to know a secret?"
- "What kind of secret?"
- "I know all their secrets. But I don't just give them away, oh no!
- If you give me some Kinah, I'll share one with you.
- Heh, you might even make a little money from it. It's up to you. What do you think, sound good?"
Accept[]
- "I have a few secrets I'm willing to share. How much Kinah are you willing to share?
- 500 Kinah? 5000 Kinah? I even have secrets worth 50000 Kinah! Which do you want to hear?"
- "I can give you 500 Kinah." (to 500 Kinah)
- "I can give you 5000 Kinah." (to 5,000 Kinah)
- "I can give you 50000 Kinah." (to 50,000 Kinah)
Decline[]
- "Heh. If you're not interested, never mind.
- I can keep a secret. At least until I find a more generous person."
- "Farewell."
Intermediate Dialogue[]
- Sveinn - change of mind
- "More? Less? How much Kinah are you willing to share?
- My secret depends on your generosity. Which one do you want to hear?"
- "I can give you 500 Kinah."
- "I can give you 5000 Kinah."
- "I can give you 50000 Kinah."
- Sveinn - 500 Kinah
- "500 Kinah? Is that all? You aren't as generous as I thought.
- Whatever, I don't care. Money is money, right? Hand it over!"
- "Here's 500 Kinah."
- "For 500 Kinah, I'll tell you a small secret. Heh, a semi-secret...
- I found this in the street. But if a beggar tried to return it to the owner, he would accuse me of being a thief. So I just kept it.
- [Player Name], if you take it back, he will not dare call you a thief."
- "What is it?"
- "It's a warehouse key. Grall manages the warehouse. He was in a hurry and dropped it. I called after him but he didn't notice me. Heh!
- I don't know who owns this warehouse, but I'm sure Grall must be anxious about the missing key."
- "I'll go return it." (reward 1)
- "I changed my mind." (to change of mind)
- Sveinn - 5,000 Kinah
- "5000 Kinah is a generous amount. So I'll warn you--this secret involves someone who will probably deny it.
- But I've seen you around the fortress, [Player Name]. You should be a Daeva of Truth, heh.
- Would you do what it takes to find the truth? More importantly, would you give me 5000 Kinah?"
- "Here's 5000 Kinah."
- "Since he'll deny it, you can't just ask about this. Getting him to admit the truth all depends on you, [Player Name].
- Find trade broker Hugorunerk and tell him this:
- "I saw you coming back from the road to Altgard at midnight. I also know what the box contains."
- "What does that mean?"
- "The Trader's Port of Call is accessed via the Road to Altgard. That's where the airship of the Black Cloud Traders arrives.
- It's strange that a member of the Quairerk Traders would go to the Black Cloud Trader's Port of Call, and then return with a big box.
- Hugorunerk must be smuggling something. I don't know what, but it doesn't matter. The Traders don't take well to smugglers.
- "I should find out what it was."
- Hugorunerk
- "Hugorunerk is busy, Daeva. Busy Busy!.
- Nothing to trade today. Please leave now, stop bothering poor Shugo traders."
- "I saw you return from Altgard at midnight."
- (Hugorunerk waves emphatically and says it isn't so.)
- "What? Quiet!
- Daeva did not! Must not say this. Hugorunerk has never been to Altgard.
- Shugos all look alike! Mistaken Daeva must have seen some other Shugo."
- "And I know what was in the box."
- "What to do, what to do, nyerk, nyerk.
- Daeva must be silent. Hugorunerk is no smuggler, does not sell what is not his. But will tell a secret, one worth your while.
- Nicoyerk owns the box. Secrets inside, yes? Negotiate with Nicoyerk about the box, nyerk."
- "I'll be watching you."
- Nicoyerk
- "Daeva is looking for something special? Very special?
- Nicoyerk can get what you need. Just name it, akakak."
- "Like the box Hugorunerk smuggled for you?"
- "Lies! Hugorunerk said this? No, no, only ordered the box for another, for Bicorunerk.
- Hugorunerk speaks with the Black Cloud Traders. Nicoyerk is just Shugo in-the-middle!
- If Daeva worries about that box, talk to Bicorunerk, yes?"
- "You Shugos are sure complicating this." (reward 2)
- "I changed my mind." (to change of mind)
- Sveinn - 50,000 Kinah
- "You are really generous! I'll give you the biggest secret I know. It's certainly worth it.
- But it's also dangerous. Are you still interested?"
- "Here's 50000 Kinah."
- "All right, I suppose you're ready for the secret.
- This secret is so serious that I am unsure whether to reveal it at all.
- But I believe that it may be good for him if I tell the secret to you [Player Name]."
- "I'm listening."
- "The Protector of Divinity is supposed to wear a divine pendant. The High Priest himself presented Bolverk with the image of Lord Azphel.
- He lost it. Not many know, but I happened to see it. In the Morheim Snow Field, I saw a Savvy Daru with the necklace dangling from its front foot.
- If you defeat the Savvy Daru and return the Holy Pendant to Bolverk, he will surely reward you."
- "I can do that." (reward 3)
- "I changed my mind." (to change of mind)
Failed Kinah Check[]
- "That's a nice offer. Your heart is in the right place, but your pockets aren't as full as your heart.
- Come back to see me if you find enough Kinah. "
- "Azphelumbra."
Reward Dialogue[]
- Grall - Reward 1
- "Oh, not here for the warehouse? Then what? I have no time for idle chitchat.
- I'm not in a very good mood right now. I am loaded down with my own problems."
- "Are you missing this?"
- "Oh! This is... Where did you find this?
- I've been looking everywhere! I would be in a huge amount of trouble if the owner came and discovered I lost the key to her warehouse!
- Oh, I'm so relieved to have the key back! I can keep my job thanks to you!"
- Bicorunerk - Reward 2
- "Daeva appears wise and discerning. What Daeva wants may well be in Pandaemonium, if not here.
- Perhaps needs a trade broker like Bicorunerk, yes?"
- "Unless it's in the Black Cloud Trader's box."
- "What? Daeva's voice carries with bad winds! Never, never would Bicorunerk deal with the Black Cloud Traders. Only one time! No pattern at all, nyerk.
- Quairerk traders have strict rules for medicine quality. Caught once, remembered always. If accused of smuggling, nyerk. Bicorunerk is as good as dead.
- Please, must not tell anyone about this! Take this and keep it a secret. Lives depend on you keeping this secret!"
- Bolverk - Reward 3
- "What brings you here?
- Do you need a special prayer from the Protector of Divinity? Or perhaps another needs looking over?"
- "Did you lose a pendant?"
Failed Item Check[]
- "Do you have the pendant or are you just threatening me?
- If you didn't intend to threaten me, come back when you've got the pendant."
- "What pendant? Perhaps I'll be back...later."
Successful Item Check[]
- "Thank you so much. I had given up looking for this.
- I didn't know what to do. It would be...embarrassing for this to get out.
- "Here, take this. I trust that you will keep this a secret."
Summary[]
Sveinn said that he knew all sorts of secrets because everyone spoke their mind as if he wasn't even there.
He offered tell you a secret if you gave him money. So you gave him money and the secret to the source. You actually earned more money than you gave him.
