  • Thanks for fixing that. I didn't even notice my "dirty" edits. I really hope that bug gets fixed.

    • Well, there are a couple of things Ive always wanted to update. For instance:

      • Updating the pages for old and unused stats after the 6.0 update (MB, Magic Suppression, Attack, etc). And adding pages for the newer ones (Physical Attack, Magic Attack, Shield Defense, etc).
      • Adding missing skills and updating old ones. Quite tedious, so I never did it. Like, we have almost no skills for Gunners, SWs or ATs. Especially with the Painter class coming out soon.
      • Pages that list old NPCs, like Stigma Masters, General Goods Merchants.
      • Updating old instance pages. Or new ones as well, like IDD and DD.
      • Aetherforging recipes.
      • A page for Purification.

Those are things that came up to my mind right now. There are several other articles which could use some help. You dont have to do those specifically, just find what you enjoy the most writing about. A good way to find the "articles of interest" is checking the main page.

  • So, as you may or may not know, this site looks bad in mobile. All of our tooltips do not showcase and mess up the pages. I propose removing them all. We can still have them display the nice fancy text coloring and brackets, but the tooltip itself would no longer display. (This would not affect the items' "tooltip" that shows on the actual item's page: IE on Nuaka's Staff.)

This, of course, is two-fold. I, for one, love the tooltips, but if they hinder users from being able to view/understand our site in mobile, that's a big deal... since about 50% of our daily views are from mobile devices.

I can go through and make these changes within the next week or so. Thoughts?

    • I can only give my opinion as requested. Aion is a PC game, people need to be on a PC or laptop to play it, so to me performance for PC users takes priority over mobile.

As a bit of a halfway-consensus I'd say the general info (e.g. the sections you see on the frontpage) could be tailored towards mobile users, but for stuff like specific instance pages (walkthroughs) and boss fights I think the tooltips are crucial - for recognizing mobs, objects, skills, and whatnot. This stuff is often checked during instance runs, and you don't have time to click between pages just to find out what a mob looks like or what a skill does.

But this is my 2cents, I only write here so it all rests with you.

    • This is not a monarchy. :D

I appreciate the feedback. I will brainstorm and try to figure out a better compromise.

  • Typical etiquette is to have the titles be in sentence case rather than Initial Caps. As per the Manual of Style here, that's how the rest of them are across the site.

    • Thats fine with links. But navboxes have titles, and the etiquette for titles in general is capitalised words unless they are articles (like Terms of Use).

    • Fine with me then. (I'll stop chainging them. :D )

  • In a bid to clean up the Instance page a bit, I was wondering what your thoughts are on creating second/seperate navbox for all removed instances? Such a navbox could then be inserted under "Removed Instances" instead of the current, rather extensive list.

    • Thanks for your work, I certainly can appreciate this initial setup. To answer some of your questions:

      • "Should we take this opportunity to separate Elyos/Asmodian instances?"
I'll go with no, there are only two instances that (slightly) vary per race in 6.0 but they have identical requirements and drops. As with the main list on the instance page, I'll just put a simple (E) or (A) behind their names to indicate this.
      • "Is there a reason the 76-80s are separate?"

It's as StyvenOV said, it's because they are the (current) endgame instances. In 6.0 there's a very clear distinction between the "tutorial" (all 1-75 content) and the actual "endgame". The 76+ instances become tougher, have a somewhat different purpose, and leveling up in that bracket isn't as fast as in 1-75.

      • "I alphabetized the instances as that's normal ettiquette with navboxes"

I'm also with StyvenOV on this, I feel a level requirement order is better. Sometimes you just have to put functionality above aesthetic. The archived instances however can indeed be alphabetical.

      Other notes:

I like the merge of Alliance instances with Arena/BGs. In the future, if we get more alliance instances, we can always seperate them again.

I'll also go ahead and merge the Solo and Group navboxes back into one and do some other, minor tweaks before implementing them on the Instance page.

    • Huh. I actually liked the solo/group separation.

  • I converted the quest infobox over to Portable Infoboxes. Let me know if you notice anything odd or missing.

  • I cleaned up the code a bit.

However, I need you to go back in and replace the "Fix this" parts with the in-game color names... if there are still called by the "color". We may need to strip that from the infobox altogether as the new colors don't seem to be that distinctive. (Beige, Pink, and Red?)

      Loading editor
    • Pink and Red sound pretty distinctive. We could use "yellow", though, since fabled items use "gold", but that would be confusing. In the end, we might just make it so the new grades can be called by just putting the name itself. We are going to keep the old grades and "colour calls", right? Else we would break the majority of the pages in the wiki.

Something that bothers me a bit is how the Ancient grade cant be read too well with the background we have. Would it be possible to add an outline to it? That way we keep the real colour and its more readable.

    • Do you have an infobox with an ancient item set up yet?

As far as the color calls, we can keep the infobox support for the color (rarity = purple), but no longer show the (Purple) part in the infobox.

    • It works perfectly now. Thanks.

    • I finally got the rest of the reference for mythic, ancient, legendary and ultimate items updated in the CSS (I hope). Infoboxes, tooltips and item links should all show the correct color now.

  • I've read the message history on your wall and tried a gazillion things, but somehow I just can't make icons show up in item or skill templates. I've looked over some item pages you added as well, but can't find an icon or image field anywhere.

If you can take a look over at https://aion.wikia.com/wiki/Surkana_Crystal and tell me what I am doing wrong it'd be appreciated.

      Loading editor
    • Ok, got it fixed for you just now.

Basically, you have to ignore compeltely the icon field. For an item infobox and infolink to detect an icon, you need to create a redirect page pointing at the file you wish the itme to have.

The page has to be named like this: File:<item name>.gif

In this case, it would be: File:Surkana Crystal.gif

While creating the page, you will be automatically be put into the Classic Editor, by the way. To definie it as a redirect page, just do #REDIRECT [[File:<Target Icon Name>.gif]]

In this case, it would be #REDIRECT [[File:Abyssal Fragment.gif]]

From the Classic Editor, you can easily access this feature by switching form the Visual to the Source view (tabs on the top) and pressing the "Redirect" button next to the "+ More".

There should be a tutorial for this somewhere... but I cant remember where.

    • Think I got it now, cheers. I was also wondering if there is a list, index or any method really to easily view the various skill/item icons that were previously uploaded to the wiki?

        Loading editor
    • For item icons, you can use this page: Item icon table Alternatively, we have the Icon lists that sort them in different categories, which you can select from the bottom (here, for example).

For skills, it is a bit more complicated. You just have to recognise it and look it up on the wiki. If that fails, I head to this page [[1]], which automatically adds skill icons in pages using the skill infobox template. Problem is, its quite an extensive list.

There is one for item icons as well (https://aion.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Icons), but tables do a better job.
