Kaldor

Click for full-res.

Kaldor is one of the new areas introduced in 4.7. The map is designed for players of level 65 and follows the three races in their bid for supremacy over the map' fortress, Wealhtheow's Keep. The faction that controls the fortress controls the entire region, and can unlock the Berserk Anoha event. It is located East of Katalam and Danaria.

Accessing Kaldor

  • Via the Shugo Teleporter at Saparinerk's Farm (Elyos) or Rubirinerk's Farm (Asmodians) in Katalam. This will take players to their respective neutral zone/starting area on the map.
  • Via an Advance Corridor (Kaldor Bound) that is present in the North Relay & South Relay bases in Levinshor. The North portal brings players to the Elyos starting area; the South portal leads to the Asmodian starting area. It is the only known way to access the other faction's starting area (and the base found there) if the faction does not own Wealhtheow's Keep.

Lay of the Land

As with the other post-3.0 maps, Kaldor is a shared open-world PvPvE map. Elyos players start at Saparinerk's Settlement (5 o' clock) at the bottom right, while Asmodian players will find themselves at Rubirinerk's Settlement (2 o' clock) at the top right. The starting areas near the neutral zones (Splitwood & Shatterbark Woods) are separated from rest of the map via chasms and are thus one-way travel: once you jump off, you can't get back on. These areas can be reached through a teleport from the map's fortress (if your faction owns it) or by using an advance corridor found in the two Levinshor bases mentioned above.

The map itself is rather compact and sees little to no activity or purpose outside of siege hours. There are a few normal quests for lv65 players to help them gain a basic overview of the land, and one of the main 4.0 [Hero] quest series takes place here. It is essentially a siege map.

A (shared) entry point for all three variations of the Danuar Reliquary is located near the centre of the map.

Fortresses

Siege Fortresses

  • Wealhtheow's Keep

Said to be the hardest fortress in the game to capture thus far, Wealhtheow's Keep is located at the western edge of the map and is the prime focus of Kaldor. The faction that controls the fortress controls the map, allowing them to freely teleport to the starting area of the opposing race. The Brigade General of the conquering legion(s) can also unlock the Berserk Anoha event. Capturing the fortress is by no means an easy task, and the faction will thus need "all players it can muster" to come out on top. It is vulnerable for one hour, once a week, on Saturdays.

In other to raise the chances of capturing it, it is recommended to capture the three artifacts before the siege begins (they have numerous elite and some hero-grade guards + 10min cooldown) and control at least one (preferably two) of the bases on the map. Controlling an artifact will also open up a teleportal at the concerning location, allowing your faction faster & easier access. An invulnerable shield may also appear on the Deity under certain conditions.

History

Aion 4.7 Soundtrack - Kaldor Settlement

Kaldor roils and groans with the consequences of an ancient mistake. Cinder-ridden forests choke on the ashen reminders of the dangers of Ide. This place is a struggle between a petrified memory of old, and the growth of a new age trying to forget. Anoha, a forgotten Danuar hero, stands at the heart of it all. His ancient blade, sunken into the stone of Wealhtheow’s Keep, may hold the answers to how Kaldor met its end. As lava belches forth onto this Ide-soaked land from the depths, Beritra moves across Kaldor with purpose.
