The World of Aion
Atreia is the "planet" in the Aion universe where the game is played. Unlike planets of our world, Atreia resembles two hollow hemispheres (or rather, "hemi-shells") with a single axle tower, the Tower of Eternity, connecting the centers of the two halves. Life flourished inside the shell-like bowels, while the "surface" of the world is barren.
Due to a catalytic event during the Millennium War, the Tower of Eternity is now broken, and rifts in the fabric of space known collectively as the Abyss now occupy much of the center of Atreia.
Sunlight reaches downward inside Atreia, illuminating the lower hemishell, where the kingdom of Elysea is located. It is unknown whether, prior to the destruction of the tower, if Atreia used to spin in such a way so that both hemishells would have had a balanced share of light.
In the darker more dangerous upper half the kingdom of Asmodae is located.
Featured article
The Elyos is one of the two factions of Daeva resulting from the Millennium War. They are locked into an eternal blood feud against the Asmodian, whom they hold responsible for the destruction of the Tower of Eternity.
The Elyos live in the kingdom of Elysea, which spans the lower half of Atreia. Their environment is filled with light and growth and because of this, the Elyos have been shaped into having a more lively, vibrant, "lighter" appearances. They are considered the more beautiful of the two races. Some of the Elyos also have feathered wings, giving them an angel-like appearance.
